The 25th anniversary of the French College of Lomonosov Moscow State University
On February 20th, one of the oldest universities in Europe - Sorbonne - held a anniversary meeting of the Academic Council of the Consortium of partner universities of the French University Colleges of Lomonosov Moscow State University and St. Petersburg State University, which was attended by Rector of Moscow State University academician V.A. Sadovnichy.
The French College of MSU was opened in September 1991 with an active participation of the long-standing true friend of our country Marek Halter.
The meeting was attended by rectors of partner universities, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development of France, the French Ministry of National Education, and colleagues from St. Petersburg University, which lead by the example of Moscow State University also opened the French College a little later.
V.A. Sadovnichy thanked Rector of Paris Universities Mr. Gilles Peck, President of the colleges Marek Halter and Chairman of the Academic Council of French Universities Consortium Ms. Marie-Pierre Rey for the organization of the anniversary meeting, which was the result of long-term fruitful work.
The Government of the French Republic highly appreciated the contribution of academician V.A. Sadovnichy to the development of the Russian-French scientific and educational cooperation, and honored him with the title of Commander of the Legion of Honour "For services to France", in 2005 he was awarded the Order of the Legion of Honour.
December 1st, 2016 an agreement was signed in Moscow on cooperation between the Embassy of France in Russia and Lomonosov Moscow State University.
For 25 years the French College of MSU have graduated 28 thousand students, it has expanded the range of partners and a range of subjects. The French College has become a department of Moscow State University. Currently, the two branches of the College — the French-speaking and the Russian-speaking ones — carry out the education in various humanitarian areas: history, sociology, law, political science and literature.
In his speech, V.A. Sadovnichy highly appreciated the role of President of the colleges Marek Halter in the creation and development of the French university colleges.
V.A. Sadovnichy told in detail about the activities of the working group he heads of the Russian Rectors' Union to establish a new international university rankings "Three university's missions," which is different from all existing ones by the indicator of the role of the university in the life of its country, in the preservation of national traditions and the continuity of generations.
V.A. Sadovnichy reported about a new international university ranking on the recent meeting of the Board of Trustees of Moscow University under the chairmanship of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. This idea is also actively supported by Minister if Education and Science of the Russian Federation O.Yu. Vasilyeva.
V.A. Sadovnichy invited French colleagues to participate in the development of a new international university rankings, noting that the rectors of universities in China, Japan, Iran and India have expressed their agreement and started to work.
Terminating the meeting of the Council of the French University Colleges of MSU and SSU the residence of the Russian ambassador to Paris hosted a reception for the participants of the anniversary meeting, college graduates and friends of our country.
